I was assigned to write and produce the segment around this heartbreaking, horrific story about 9-year-old Parwana, whose family chose to sell her to a 55-year-old man so they could buy food. Though selling a child under age 15 to be married is illegal in Afghanistan, it’s still practiced in many rural parts of the country.
